The artist

It was early evening. At the end of this late afternoon, I decided to tidy up a bit and send my mopping robot into a few rooms. So, I went back and forth in my wheelchair and was very busy when a fantastic spectacle appeared in front of our window facing north-west. A sky in the most beautiful colors you can imagine. I marveled for a moment and then wanted to hurry on working when a thought struck me: God, the artist of all artists, has painted you a wonderful picture in the sky and you hardly notice it. As I am sometimes artistically active myself (I can’t draw at all, though), I know how important it is for me that my “creation”, in which I have invested so much time and thought, heart and soul, is noticed.

On the other hand, a masterpiece has been painted in the sky for me and I hardly pay attention because I supposedly don’t have time. How sad. How many missed “oh” and “ah” moments! Isn’t it precisely these moments of pausing and marveling at the seemingly everyday little things that ground me and put things into perspective again? The beautiful sunset, the little singing bird on a branch, the glittering dragonfly, the delicately designed summer flower, the phenomenal spider’s web …

I want to pause more often, to marvel more at the great, loving artist of creation who gives us all this and more – simply because he can.

Here are a few “inspirations for amazement”
