Leap of faith
Once again, I asked my husband for help. Being the way he is, he helped me. Being the way I am, I looked at what I wanted help with, saw no results, and complained that he wasn’t doing anything. His response: “Just because you don’t see anything doesn’t mean I’m not doing anything.”
When we start a new year in January, it lies before us like a book with blank pages. It’s strange, really, because when you think about it, January 1 is just a new day like any other. Just because someone set a date on a specific day that heralds the beginning of a new year, we celebrate it in many countries around the world as a holiday and the start of the new year.
Nevertheless, when the clock strikes midnight on the 31st and the fireworks go up, it feels like a special moment. What will this year bring? What joys and sorrows lie ahead? Will I achieve this or that?
Perhaps there is something ahead of you that requires great courage—a leap of faith, or a leap into the unknown. And you are afraid. What you have in mind is full of risks, and yet you are drawn in that direction. If you are a Christian, you may pray for guidance and wish for this sign from heaven. But no sign comes. You have no choice but to decide for or against this leap into the unknown. And the rest will follow. For God often works in secret. “Just because you don’t see anything doesn’t mean I’m not doing anything.”
God does not always reveal his plans to us in detail. And sometimes it is up to us to take a leap into the unknown, to be courageous and to tackle the task, the project, or whatever it may be. And once you’ve taken the leap, you’ll realize that God was there long before you and even held your hand as you jumped. “Just because you can’t see anything doesn’t mean I’m not doing anything.”
On that note: Good flight and safe landing!
